COMMERCIAL PROJECTS
For the main contractor, D Noble Ltd, Linford Civil Engineering Ltd expertly handled the foundations, drainage, and hard landscaping for developing 7 industrial units in Dewsbury. Our comprehensive services included building existing levels with engineered stone, constructing two large raft foundations, and installing foul and storm drainage systems. We also implemented a crate attenuation system and connected two sewers to the existing network. Additionally, we installed service ducts, lighting columns, signage, car parking areas, hard standings, soft landscaping and reinstated existing footways.
REMEDIAL WORKS
Linford Civil Engineering Ltd successfully delivered the plot works for 109 new homes in Lindley with national housebuilder Persimmon Homes. Situated on moorland north of Huddersfield, the site posed challenges such as split-level plots, substantial level differences, and extensive retaining walls. Our scope included foundations tailored to varying ground conditions like mudstone, rock, and minor coal seams. We conducted a thorough cut-and-fill operation to remediate levels and constructed a 4m high retaining wall. Special measures were also implemented, such as height-restricted plant usage due to electricity pylons and perimeter land drainage for flood prevention. The project was completed and handed over in July 2022, meeting rigorous standards and enhancing the Lindley community.
HOUSING PROJECTS
Linford Civil Engineering Ltd executed the groundwork for 64 houses in Spalding Moor as a housing project with the main contractor Mears New Homes. Located on low-lying ground with a high water table and running sand, the project presented initial challenges requiring careful planning and extensive expertise. Our responsibilities included installing ring beams on vibro piles, managing drainage with a dewatering system, and constructing a concrete attenuation tank using a cantilever sheet pile system. We also implemented a pumping station for stormwater management, connected foul drainage to an existing combined sewer, and completed 278 works to enhance site access and pedestrian facilities.
NEW BUILDS
Linford Civil Engineering Ltd completed 49 houses for the Termrim Construction project from start to finish, managing connections to existing watercourses and sewer systems, off-site drainage in a live highway, main site drainage, road construction, and full plot build-up to DPC standards with hard landscaping in Scarborough. Despite the site's steep incline and COVID-19 challenges, we successfully installed retaining walls, managed foul drainage connections, and implemented a surface water system with a precast concrete attenuation tank and hydro brake flow control unit.
